ok guys im new to this site and i just got my ranger around 2 or 3 weeks ago. its an 86 2.3l standard cab and its got about 35,000 on the rebuild. when i bought it it sounded like the heat sheild was loose but after some investigation it is tight and it leads me to believe the cat has gone bad on the inside so i am cutting it off this week. in this process im also wanting to run a new muffler and my question for yall is what is the best type. i have looked into the thrush trubo and glasspacks, also a buddy showed me another truck with one of the ricer tips that sounded pretty sweet...not sure what type to choose. any suggestions?

do you wish to go cheap or moderately priced? Ive seen these new flowtech bolt ons and they are cheap and sound decent but they are fiberglass insides and do burn out.

My vote is magnaflow. Never heard nothing but good reviews.
