stumped 2.3 engine not starting

Its a 1994 mazda b2300

It died at idle speed and would not start after. checked for spark, and fuel, and the timing seems right. the fuel pump can be heard kicking on when i turn the key, i pulled the spark plug wires and checked every one for spark and they all work. i'm so frustrated, and wondering if this is just a sign that i should get rid of it. can someone please help me brainstorm?

thanks in advance.

The timing may "seem" right , but if the belt has stretched and jumped 2 or 3 teeth you can get a 'no-start'.

i have a new timing belt to put on it but, is there any other way than using a gear puller to get the crankshaft sprocket off? also the timing belt on there doesn't have any teeth missing.

if its the 8 plug motor you could have a junk coil. switch the coil in the front with the one behind it. the coil in the back is the one that controls emmisions and actually starts the motor too.

make sure you mark your wires so you dont mix them up. the easiest way to do it is just a simple marking of 1,2,3,4 in a clockwise direction

is there a way both coils could be bad? i switched the wires to the other coil pack and still no start. does it need both to start it?

i replaced the timing belt and am wondering now what timing mark i'm supposed to go off of for the camshaft sprocket.

Make sure you have fuel! You may hear a fuel pump but if yours is the same as my 87 there is two fuel pumps one on the frame rail and one in the tank. Find the fuel valve it should be around the back of the engine under the upper intake manifold and see if you have any fuel pressure there.

it starts off the coil in the rear if your not getting power to either it might be the ignition control module. there a ***** to do lol iron bolts into an aliminum intake start to rust and corrode after a little while
