Sounds like you need a tune up

You probably need a tune up. Spark Plugs, Spark Plug wires and you should also clean your Mass Airflow Sensor and Idle Air Control valve.

Sounds like a case of the tune-ups.

If your truck is the four cylinder engine, don't expect it to respond very well. It is a small engine on a mid-sized pickup. However, tune up would be the best road to go down:
Check your ignition system (Coil, Plugs, Wires)
Check your fuel system (Fuel pump, injectors, electrical and whatnot)
Check your throttle body (throttle cables can stick or get out of place)
IAC or MAF sensor (cleaning this will prevent the engine from misreading air volume readings and thus improperly mixing fuel off the line)

Do a tune up, and also post up a picture of your spark plugs. You can tell a lot about how a motor is running by the spark plug.

I am thinking along the lines as motokid as well. You could possibly benefit from doing the zip ties on the throttle cable under your pedal.

Good luck!
