Gaskets, gaskets, tranny, oil pan

I was thinking of installing a oil pan gasket on my 96 Ranger 2.3 litre as well as an auto trans oil pan gasket...is it an easy install, should I take it to my mechanic, should I look for anything special..dosanyone have experiencing replacings gaskets if so can you give me some tips?
Is it hard to accomplish or is it just as easy as removing the old gaskets and cleaning the surfaces where the new gaskets will go and replacing them, carfully torquing the bolts to not rip the new gaskets?

The trans gasket is very easy, if you decide to change it, change the trans filter also, it'll be right in front of you once the pan is removed. just clean both surfaces really good before putting back togeather. you could probably do the job in 20 minutes or so, not counting the time it takes to refill the trans fluid and get it up to operating temp. The oil pan gasket is also fairly easy, but it will take a little longer than doing the trans gasket. On the oilpan, if you decide to do it, clean the inside of the oil pan really well, there will be a thick film of buildup in the bottom of it.
