Power Steering Pump Install - White Nylon Washer?

I installed a new Motorcraft power steering pump on my 2.3 recently. In the box there was white nylon washer. There was nothing in the instructions that said to use it or what it was for.

Anyone know what it is used for?

how big around, and pictures would be of most help. Did you replace the just the reservoir or the entire pump/reservoir assembly?

I replaced the whole pump assembly. The washer is approx 5/8" to 3/4" in diameter.

I thought maybe it went in the hose fitting hole but there wasn't one in the pump I took out. The pump looked to be original.

The washer is for the high pressure line coming out of the pump. To get it to fit you have to expand it a bit with a drift punch, then it slowly returns to its smaller size to fit the line. Mine didn't leak so I left it alone.....I put the washer in the tool box for future use.
