If you want 2.5 performance buy yourself a Subaru EJ25. Other than that good luck.

cool thanks. I put a 3" cold air breather and a flowmaster 2.5" exhaust and that helped tremendously. I have a friend that has an '01 ranger with the 2.3 that he blew up racing at the strip and he told me I could have the turbo kit off it.

Thanks for the tip.

so an exhaust driven turbo for the '01 2.3L wont work on a '98 2.5L? I thought the '98-'01s were basically the same, and the 2.5L were simply bored and stroked 2.3s?

nope. the 90s 2.3Ls were a lima engine, the 98-01 1/2 2.5Ls are a bored and stroked 2.3L lima. in 01 1/2 they switched to a DOHC 2.3L which is not related at all to the earlier lima engines. at all.

Actually, the 2.5 is just a stroked version of the 2.3l. That goes for the lima engines. But basically, no you can use anything off the 01.5+ 2.3l engines. as stated above, they are a whole new enigne, and dohc.

ah we all burn through ridiculous amounts of money at that age. Some drink, some do drugs and some mod cars.

I wouldn't say that it won't work, but you may need to make some changes to how it works. I would get the turbo system, and just get what you need to make it work. The differance is probubly in how the turbo connects to the exhaust. turboing a 2.5 lima is a good choice, so I would definately not give up on the idea. Me and danger, can lead you in the right direction.
