2.3L spark plugs question

My ranger, like many others im sure, has the 8 plug setup, (2 per cyl). I was wondering, is this actually more or less powerful than a 4 plug 4 cyl setup? Or is there no difference?

as far as i know, there is no difference, they just did it for emissions i think.

the second coil is only supposed to engage when extra power is needed like with the a/c on or under a heavy load so its not using all eight all the time, its supposed to help with the power but im not shure if it really does

The purpose of 2 sets of plugs are for emissions. One set fires on the compression stroke and the other fires on the exhaust stroke to burn off any unburnt fuel and thereby making our world a greener and happier place. Happy-happy joy-joy to all!!

I think dual plug setups work better in bikes, ATV's etc... Cars are more fine tuned than bikes so I think it's pointless, but that's just me -Mike-

There's not much difference, maybe a little more power, but not enough to notice, but yea, probably just emissions purposes.
