Throttle Body Question

I'm a 2.5L owner and am wondering if the fuel is mixed in the throttle body? That's a limited understanding question. Let me expand: I'm wanting to tweak for better gas mileage and HP/Torque and was considering a throttle body spacer. I read that the benefit of that is probably negligible on FI engines if the fuel is not mixed (?) in the throttle body. So, should I even bother with throttle body tweaks on my engine for better air flow? I haven't been able to track down a full aftermarket swap, but spacers can help given the right conditions. Should I save my money for other areas, or am I going down the right road here?

Fuel is NOT mixed in the throttle body. You have 4 injectors that spray fuel directly into the combustion chambers. The throttle body in laments term lets the air in to the engine in a controlled way. There are other things attached to it IAC (Idle Air Control) and TPS (Throttle Position Sensor) The spacers do very little for performance.

Gotcha, gotcha. I read not to expect much from spacers. So, unless I can get compatible spacers for free, I'll spend my money elsewhere. Thanks, Rock304.
