2.5l Timing Marks

I have a 98 2.5l and I was wondering if I could use the crankshaft pulley as a marking guide since it has a purposely missing tooth that alines with the guide above it instead of removing the pulley... is it possible?

The harmonic balancer should have a visible line on it, to be used when setting the timing. The line lines up with TC on the front timing belt cover

Yes I’m the bottom right of the picture on the smooth black part of the harmonic balancer. When you have the timing cover on, that line should be aligned with the notch in it for TC, top center.

I usually line mine up using the timing cover. Just put that line at tdc on the cover before setting the other marks, triangles to triangles on cam. Diamond to diamond on oil pump.
