finally a vid of the first test run of the truck, today they are changing the steering over the leafs and changing the busted ball joint. so truck should be on the streets tomarrow!

the hill was much steeper than it looks , either way was jsut a small test drive. hope to get real action shots soon!

trucks out on the streets again.. cant get it allinged, seems it might be the 2 ball joints on the drivers side knuckle, gona go tomarrow and see if i can get them. besides that truck drives great.. besides it wanting to go anywere but straight :S

o and got serious rubbing when turning right also.. need to see what i can do bout that...

so hopefully tomarrow trucks gona run straight.. need seriously a steering stabilizer

thaqnks all. some pics of how it flexes, it could do more but i wasent in the mood to try to get higher as its still on the bug fixing period.

and guess ill need to get rid of the fender flares and get some "bushwacker" fenders get made as when i chain up im gona rip them apart

this is were the tire hits the pitman so gues il have to get some spacers for the front no matter what an limit some what the steering for the left.

 

That last pic is sweet man... Be careful with flipping your springs like that, and i'd keep a close eye on that drag link... It's awfully close to laying on the leafs...

 

wow i really want a truck like that for a trail rig now. closest thing we have here is a sport trac just might have to build one someday

 

yeah the drag link is pretty close, but it still got a few inches to spare, and i still need to get the bump stops. but first needed to know what size to get.

also the springs should be alright as they are some old man emu toyotas land cruiser rear leafs, that are pretty soft actually, a very nice ride, with some navara leafs to reinforce them.

also need to adjust steering bumps stops as im having major rubbing with the leafs, atleast for a while while i can get some wheel spacers.

hope i can get some were to get an alignment and this week get a steering stabilizer installed. and that will fix my issues...i really hope it does work :S

im kinda confused why didnt the guy that installed the axle and all that finish it up for you and get it all ready and work the bugs out. just seems like he got it rolling and walked away idk just me but i would have him finish it.

 

Takes time to work the bugs out. You have to drive it to find out what you need to adjust and fix.

And I think I would stick my weenier in its tailpipe.

 

yeah, im still going almost everyday to the guys shop to get the bugs fixed out.

and it still got a lot of bugs.. but i needed the truck already to keep working,
today the alignment guy was out so itl be till tomarrow that i will get it aligned and see how it really drives. and go out looking for the steering stabilizar to mount Wednesday.



TRE, got the front a lil more flexed today as i wanted to check how close it got. i need bump stops for front and rear. at full flex the front driver

looks good. throw it on a ramp and then itll be fully flexed. and get rid of those over-loads on your front packs

With how soft those front leafs are, keep them. Its gonna prevent that leaf from inverting. Trust me you don't want that happening.

Downey, don't post **** like that. Ask anyone who did a SAS. Everythig works out fine on paper. As soon as you take it out, something doesn't work out the way it was supposed to. It takes awhile to pin-point all of the bugs before its problem free. We don't have Toyota's. There isn't a bolt on fix for serious mods like this. The guy did his job at the shop.

 

for the alignement dont bother with the machine to align it, a good old mesuring tape does the job really well on full axles. Raise the front diff make a mark in the middle of the tire mesure once with the mark in front and once with the mark in the rear, for 35 inch and more tire leave the front 1/8 to 1/4 smaller then the rear. Then move your truck forward in a straight line stop and level the steering wheel.

I work in a 4x4 shop and the only truck we take to the alignement shop are the ifs one.

got the truck alinged *again) today. it was off by an 1.25 inch......

still got some wooble but ill see about that after i install a steering stabilizer. but now its drivable on the streets.. (kinda lol..)

 

Check all the nuts and bolts again. Tighten up the TRE on the drag link to the pitman arm, and check to make sure the proper length sleeves are used in the bushings for you leaf springs at the hangars. That was a HUGE issue for me when we did mine. Make sure you tighten your u-bolts at least every other day while the springs are settling, and everything's new.

Also, you may want to look into a panhard, like mine. It solved EVERY issue of mine concerning wobble or bump steer. Even rutted up snow trails, I get MINIMAL bump steer, with no stabilizer.
