i don't think they make a high pinion F250 44 in 76. Those didn't come out until 78, and they only lasted 2 years. (78-79)

I know this is to another site, but it will tell you everything you ever need to know about a D44 axle.

Why narrow the axle? You have plenty of options to cover the tires. I ran a small backspacing wheel and it kept it narrow. Ill get a pic. You can do thise just be wise on your wheel choice.

here is a picture

Also, even though it was mentioned run a 4.56 I would personally run a 4.88. The newer 4.0s like rpms, thats where you make your power, 4.88s will get you there faster. Mpg wont be too much different and even better in the city. Its less strain on everything, gears, transmission, tcase, engine...

Never go low pinion. HP axles are every where. I just scrapped 2 Dana 44 High pinion axles.

1976 F150 Dana 44 has weld on wedges, that allows you to grind them off and weld new ones on at the desired angle or make your own link setup. Its also the easiest to narrow and the nicest looking D44 out there.

I personally would skip 5 lug. Just get D44 outters from a F250 and run a rear D60. D60s are cheap and strong. 8 lug wheels are also everywhere.

How rare is it to come by a D60 ? Would it be better to just look for 60's? I know they are treated like gold by some ?
