Mcallister leaf springs?
so here is the deal, i am currently shopping for leaf springs for my sas and the shop who is helping me has some custom made Mcallister front leaf springs that were made for a toyota sas project. they are a 5"lift leaf but from what i understand these leafs measure 22x24 (watever that means?) which suposedly make these about one inch longer than a trail gear toyota leafs. does anyone know how those dimensions compare to the rancho 44044 leafs or any other relevant front sas leaf?

Rancho Spring Specifications heres some specifics of the rancho 44044 springs (scroll down) maybe you can compare with them. i believe your measurement relates to the center pin position, the 44044 is 22.5" from the front eye to the center pin and 24.5 from the rear eye to the center.. what you have there sounds very close to the rancho spring.. and you can always flip the spring around backwards if you needed to change the offset to clear the tire as best as possible because you have that 2" offset front or back to play with. and note that the rs44044 springs also use different bushings and sleeve widths in each end of the spring. the front bushing and sleeve is 2.75" and the rear is 3". check those springs for those similarities also.

Thank you. That information was exactly what I was looking for. I'm gonna go and re measure everything on the Mcallister leafs tonight and see what I can make work. I figure if I wanted to make these spinges the same length as the 44044 I can have them de-arched a bit ad that would also get me a little lower than the 5" toy leafs, which would be perfect.

how long are the yota springs with arc? the rancho springs were exactly 44" from eye to eye unloaded. if you need any other help just pm me, i have a ton of links for most leaf sprung questions lol..

Wirelessly posted (Droid X)

My trail gears were 47" eye to eye unloaded. Be careful with standard rate 5" lift leafs, they're meant for light toyotas, not rangers...

hey guys, so im going to the shop again tomorrow and im gonna get some comparable measurements to go by. i know that the leafs are double military wrapped, however trevor you make a valid point and it is my main concern about these leafs is that they are made for sasing a 4 cylinder toy, not a v6 ranger. the worst part about the whole thing is that my mechanic is gonna sell them to me for $300 + change so its a smokin deal that is hard to pass on. i can get the 44044 leafs for $190 per side but i feel bad backing out on my mechanic unless ive got proof that the rancho leafs are a better bet than the toy ones. ive only seen two sas rangers on toy leafs (trepaul and 2002FX4) and from wat i recall so far they are both working fine still. i post a pic of the leafs just for reference. thoughts and input wanted, thanks.
