87 ranger 2.9l 4x4

So my cousin got a 87 ranger with jeep strait axels. Hard start sometimes most when you run in the store for drink 2 min tops it will fire and die let it set 10 min fire rite up. Fuel pump? Filrer? Loss of pressure?
