LOL! I also have to put the spare 8.8 I have in my 98 (R&P is toast) and I have an oil pan gasket to change.

Didn't read the whole thread but, a quick one, is an "FX4 Off-Road" the same as an "FX4 Lvl II" ?

I was under the impression not.

This truck has the words "Off-Road" on the Rear-Side; is this even a "Lvl II" ?

And the Interior, the Lvl II is the top end interior, more digital stuff, I think !?!?!?!?!?!

I am new to the '00+ Rangers so don't run me over the coals too much.

I'm new too! I can't remember....but they are not the same, feature wise. LII's got black interior, never grey, chrome towhooks(those were deleted for the 09 model year I believe), two tone seats with either red or black inserts, LII's got black w/ silver trim ring gauges. None has any higher end electronics unless either got the better sound system, which was optional on both trucks. I forgot the base Fx4's got the two tone.

Bottom line: this truck in question is a Fx4, just not a LII.

2002 Fx4 Off Road and 2003 Fx4 Level II would be the same truck...simple name change. After that, theyve always been differnt up to the 08 or 09 model year when they dumped the LII and mix matched parts form the Fx4 OR and Fx4 LII and called it Fx4 Off Road with a ton of different options that came standard on the previous years LII's(like the axle...torsen and 31spline is optional).

06-07 non level 2's had two tone paint, black tow hooks, black guages without the silver trim, grey interior, basic xl/xlt/sport shifter, the torsen t2 was an option, "heavy duty off road shocks" and they did not come with alcoas/bfg's, that was an option

thats everything off the top of my head

That's odd. I was under the impression that newer FX4 trucks had black interior not gray, and silver bezels around the gauges. That may just be a L2 thing. The two tone paint is correct, as DSG trucks had black undertone. Silver HVAC bezel is correct too

I don't think it's ford being cheap.....it's more like whomever the ford dealer or the customer hired to do the spray job. Looks goofy and stupid and I can't imagine it being very useful as drop ins are NEVER easy or usefull.

Sell the 53 and get a 56!

We have a 1955 F-100 and a 1956 F-350, I love the look of the 56....
