SAS Conversion

I have a 2002 ranger with 35'' and want to do a solid axle on one. I plan on getting an older ranger 4x4. I want to know what yall think of the parts I picked cause this will be a one or two year project just because of money supply. I plan on sticking a v8 in it to. My goal is to put 44'' tires with just suspension.

Front end:
Dana 44 high pinion from a 1976-1979 f100/f150
5.13 gears with air locker
reid racing knuckles with high steering
9 inch skyjacker coils
stock coil buckets

I have a couple of ?

I was looking at radius arms and saw the extended ones from bcbroncos and cage ones. Which one would yall go with? Also, I saw that people use yota steering boxes, but what year do yall recommend? Also, whats a good place to get steering linkages for the steering?

Rear end:
8.8'' from explorer or if I can find one from a ranger with disc
5.13 gears with air locker

I have a couple of ?

I saw that people use the chevy spring I was wondering why, when you can just by skjacker lift springs. Cause I am planning on using skyjacker 8'' lift spings with one inch blocks for a ranger.

Thanks for help.

If you are planning on 44's, atleast run 60's, or rockwells. The setup your are planning right now will hanlde 37's or 39's will good throttle control. If you like replacing axel shafts on a trail every 3 ft, then use the d44/8.8 combo. I think you need to do ALOT more research before you even attempt to SAS

I would go 40's, 5.13 isn't enough gear for 44's...even with a v8 your pushing it IMO. One of the guys I know runs 44's with a v8 and 6.38 (I believe) gears in 2.5 ton axles...and his truck BOGS hard when it's churning up the goo...you don't want that. He is even thinking of going back to 40's

sounds like you want a FW front axle? with radius arms..?

why go FW front and leave the back narrow? get a 14bolt FF rear axle and you'll be set

ha, D44.. i won't trust my D44 above 35/36s, maybe 37s if i get a good deal..

A d60 is the minimum for anything that big, and it better be a well built d60 to run 44s..

Not to sound like a d**k, but an Explorer 8.8 31 spline rear end is bigger/stronger then a Dana 44 Rear end. A lot of people get that confused. The Explorer 8.8 has a ring gear diameter of 8.8 inches with 31 splines. The Dana 44 has a ring gear diameter of 8.5 inches with 30 splines.

don't narrow a 60..

if your going that tall your gonna want the wide stance for stability

Go with HPD60 up front and Corp14 in the rear. Both built and geared right will do you just fine.
