1989 Ranger Lift
 

I've got an '89 Ranger XLT with a 2.9L.

Can I lift it 2" without any major expenses or alignments or?

New passion this Ranger has become. Al-tho gutless what a damn good dependable truck.

I have a '92 for some parts and I see it has like a 2" spacer on the rear end. So wonder how I get it lifted up 2" up front.

All this is new to me and at 48 a greenhorn when it comes to auto mechanics..

Wow great site guys. Seriously. I looked through the 1"-3" lift threads and maybe I can get away with a 1" body lift? Any specific help related to a 1989 Ranger XLT extended cab 4x4 would be great.

Sound like maybe the 2" would require altercations to the manual stick boot? Possibly fan shroud issues? Like I said "greenhorn" mechanic. But I do enjoy it.

Hate to say it, but there isn't very much current advice going around about the 80s rangers. I've never really looked, so I'm not too sure about the archives on here for info. IMO, they had the best body style, but you really dont find too much in the way of lift info. For the newer generations, the body lift "kit" comes with drop brackets for the radiator to keep it in line with the fan and they come with a shifter extension. Both of these could be able to be home made in a matter of a few hours. Good luck with the lift.

Yours is TTB so you have it pretty easy. Larger coils. There's kits in 4wheeler all the time. I believe rough country makes a kit. Of course, if I had a ranger that was coils I'd just do a SAS. It's practically bolt in.

Not sure if I'm just tired or not right now but what is TTB? And SAS? I'll prolly figure it out as so as hit submit. :)

SAS is solid axel swap.

TTB is twin tractor beam. Go look at your front suspension, you should see two beams coming outta your front diff. One is attached to the differential. That was ford's attempt at IFS or independant front suspension. It can be found in fullsize trucks from 80-96 and first thru third gen Rangers.

Looks as tho my '92 has larger coils! At least 1.5"! I did see a Ranger today with at least a 3-4 inch lift with an SAS. Gonna go with the larger coils this year. New motor and SAS next year. I'll get a pic up of my '89 as soon as I get a chance.
