2001 4x4 XLT SuperCab Ball Joint Install
Well, I've been looking over all the threads about installing ball joints, and it really sounded like something I can handle (uppers only now).
Went out to the truck today and looked things over. I want to use the Moog control arms. Slight problem though: I just got this truck a couple of weeks ago and it spent time on the beach quite a bit and it looks like any bolt underneath the truck is pretty rusty. I'm a little worried about starting the job and getting hung up as I'm very rural. Does anyone have any suggestions for special tools/breaker bars that would help? I don't have air tools. I know that plenty of penetrant is in order, but am wondering just how hard those bolts come apart and if some sockets are better than others to work with. |
spray PB blaster on the nuts that are rusty a few hours before you do it..and you should be good to go..they should just break right off...just spray the lube on em..that will stgart to break the rust off..
