I have a 2005 ranger xlt 4x4 with 77,000 miles. It has a squeaking/chirping sound coming from somewhere in the front sounds like the left side while driving but it's not constant, sometimes you don't hear it at all. I have had the front brakes and shocks done but it made no difference. Speed doesn't seem to matter sounds the same and hasn't seemed to get worse over time. I need to sell the truck but would like to get this problem solved first if I can.

how long since you replaced it with a new one

 

I don't know if ever, I bought the truck used and I haven't, if it's the belt I would've thought I'd be able to hear it when the engine was running at idle but I don't, sounds all quiet and just looking at it I see no cracks or anything, it looks good. Is there anything I can do to verify this
before changing the belt too see if the chirp goes away? I only hear it while driving and seems to start after making a right turn.

 

Another area that can make a kind of a high pitch squeal is the front wheel seals on the inside. This happens to mine sometimes after being off-road. I just spray a lubricant similar to WD-40 in that area and the squeal goes away.

 

when serpentine belts wear in , overnight the belt would aquire moisture on it`s surface

when you first start the engine , the belt squeals because it is slipping on the power steering / air conditioning pulleys .

the squealing stops because the moisture has evaporated from the friction from the slipping pulleys
