^^ i think it is a d44 but i've never seen a 5 lug with leafs on a 79.

The BOM is a string of numbers on the front of the long axle tube. It's definitly a standard D44 with the 5-lug axles. If it had 8 lugs then it would be the HD D44. The leaf springs is a confusing thing though, are you sure it's not an F250? Then again who knows what they do when they build things with the leftover parts.

i am sure its not a f-250. the leafs are whats throwing me off.
my friend wants to get a d44 leaf spring for his truck. i dont want him to get that one if i have no clue what it cause we needs parts for it.

Get the BOM off the Long side tube and we can tell you what the housing is out of.
