98 Ranger XLT Inner Tie Rod Question.

Hello,

I wrecked my ranger a while back pushing the front bumper and radiator back, fender was touching the passenger side wheel when it was turned left, etc.. With that being said I was able to massage out wheel clearance since I had no fluid leaks I decided to use the crashed out truck on my farm for misc. task. Fetching firewood, feeding animals etc.. It was running just fine and even the AC was working perfectly but obviously some suspension components were tweaked the bump steer was all over the place, so I simply did not drive over 7-10 mph. I had seen that the tie rods were bent slightly and after a while snapped off right at the threads and now it's parked. My question is does the tie rod require the use of the special tool for removal? I'm not particularly concerned with the alignment other then a basic eyeball since its not seeing road use or speeds higher then a slow crawl. I was wondering if its possible turn the steering wheel out in a direction that would extend the knuckle from the steering rack where I could get to it without the special socket? Any input would be helpful... :-)
