99' Rear Shock Mounts???

Earlier today i was doing an oil change on my truck and for the hell of it i decided to do the rear end as well. While waiting the diff to drain, i shook the shocks for the hell of it and to my amazement, but mounts that "were" welded to the frame have broken off clean. So on monday in going to grind the frame and reweld them unless someone has a differnt idea for what to do. This now explains why on the highway with a few hundred pounds in the bed the truck bounces corner to corner. This happen to anyone else?

Wow. That's bad. I can't believe your 99 had that much rust. The same thing happened on my 78 F-100, but that thing was abused.

I think after you weld a new shock mount on, the frame should be sanded and hit with POR-15 or some Rustoleum to stop any other rust.

older chevys had this problem alot too. sort of a design flaw.

just weld them up good, and keep an eye on them!

Same principle (almost), with my '99. Weird. She'd welded up and stronger then ever now.
