removing rear blocks

i'm sure everybody is tired of the lowering an edge topic. those people might want to leave now =] haha jk. i'm going to loosen the torsion bar and remove the rear blocks. the problem is i haven't found any instructions on how to remove the rear blocks, can somebody help me with this? what will i need, instructions, directions, so on and so on, and don't be afraid to be detailed, i'm a lil of teh slow. any help is appreciated.

you will need new u-bolts....jack up the truck, sit the trucks FRAME on jack stands.....then loosen the u bolts.....take the block out, replace the u-bolts with ones short enough to not use the blocks.....tighten the u bolts and put the tires back on...

what size would you recommend? after i loosen the tbars and remove the blocks will the ride feel about the same?

take the u bolts you have to some place that will make them....tell them you want u bolts that are 2" shorter, or get a set of u bolts from a 2wd Ranger (non-Edge).....

No... Anytime you change the T-bars any decent amount the ride will change. I'm thinking it will be softer, when I tightened them on my mom's '99 it was noticeably stiffer. I'm not sure about the ride in the rear changing but I am willing to bet it does.

hook a chain around the block, tie the other end to a truck, put it in 1st and take off

remove the rear blocks but go out and buy new ubolts the stock ones are way to long.


Instructions.... jack truck up put on jack stands (or redneck style with a log.) take off tires put floor jack under pumpkin, undo ubolts and lower shock bolts(you dont have to remove shock bolts) drop rear just enough to grab lift blocks and throw them across the drive way picking them up later. jack the rear back up and bolt in... DONE..... wait your not done till you jack the truck down and make sure you put the tires on first......
