Tbar Cranking Revisited (2008 Models) and questions.

Hi,

Well alot of you know that the 2008 Rangers and B-4000's sit a little lower than the 2007 and older models. Its subtle, but noticeable at the same time. According to official specs the trucks ride 18mm lower than last year, due to revised shocks and suspension tuning adjustments, intended for a smoother ride.

Well, I just finished cranking my tbars!

My before and after specs are as follows:

Front, from ground to the top of the wheel well(fender flares): 33.25inches.

Rear: 34.5 inches.

I cranked the Tbar bolts 5 complete turns. I have heard on the older models that 3 turns level the truck.

After lowing my truck off the jack, i remeasured.

5 turns took me to 34.25inches in the front, the rear of course stayed the same. So i gained one inch.

Now i'm curious, how does this compare to everyone else? i have the stock 255/70/16 tires.

Can anyone tell me if its safe to crank the bolts some more? I'd like to get the bulldog look, where as right now, with 5 full turns im just at level.

HIt me Back with some input.

mine is completely maxed but i believe i have saggy bars haha
but i think the back fenderwell is higher than the front anywyays because i parked on level ground and threw a level on my bedside and it showed the rear is actally sitting lower altho it looks the opposite

Alright, well i looked at the truck today and decided to crank the t-bars all the way. I got them all the way in and then backed off one full turn.....

I got close to the look i wanted, but:

This confirms the 08's dont go as high with the t-bar crank as compared to earlier models.

My truck now sits at 34.5" up front, up from 33 1/4... and i'm fully cranked.

So the most you can get out of a 2008 tbar crank is about 1 1/4 cranked all the way.

I'm curious, could the shocks be limiting it from going up any further?

dont go any higher your cvs will bind and your ball joints will be destroyed
btw this has been mentioned b4 that the 08s are lower because the rear only has a 1.5in block instead of older years that have 2.5 in blocks

Mine are the exact same measurements as yours Roddy. I will be happy with 5 turns, then some 32's which will give an extra inch of height clearance.
Remember we have 1.25" blocks in the rear, instead of the 2.5" that every 4X4 before has been getting.

-acutally my rear is about 35.3", I have the payload package 2 and 3.25 diam axle housing which may be helping a bit.

Not sure, odd how you only got 1/4" difference from 5 turns to near max.
1-1.25" is normal on previous Rangers with 4-5 turns, you know how many more you did after the first 5.
Supposedly it should be roughly 1/4" for every complete turn. More or less.

haven't cranked mine yet. Still sitting at about 33.25 up front.

Its not that stiff, ^^^ i think your missing the point of my post.

The suspension tune on the 08's is really foreign compared to previous years.

Full t-bar cranks yeild about an inch of lift, and honestly its not stiff at all.

I'm gonna be ordering the 2.5" blocks to replace the 1.5" blocks later this week.

I wish i could get the front up some more, i might look into the torsion keys for some more lift up front (i can hear the cries already, spare me) since that seems to be the only way to get about 2" higher that factory up front.

I find this very hard to beleive, maybe on the older trucks where a 2.5" inch gain could be had from a tbar crank. I dont see my CV's binding from 1.25" of lift.....

He said if you go over 1.25. That's where mine is and I wouldn't go any higher.

Yes I saw that, but you were talking about binding AT 1.25. He was saying if you could go past that it's not advised. Anything past that would definitely cause early wear.
