checking interest: "superlift to coilover" hardware(TX)

I got to talking to one of my customers about making replicas of the RCD upper and lower bracketry for the coilover conversion. All it would be is those two brackets and im thinking that I may make some beefy support bars if the interest is there. Anyway, im wondering if there is enough people that are willing to buy these. I have to pull my bracketry off my truck and send it to him for a weekend so he can start making them. Let me know if yall are interested, if so, I will pull it off either this weekend or next and get it going. Ill get pricing in a couple days.

Be very careful with this. RCD could easily bring the law into this if they wanted to.

you could take measurements, just selling a product would be borderline sketchy.

If you can get me everything I need to install the coilovers for a RCD lift I would be game as long as the price is right. I'm not worried about lifting the rear.

yeah, email to RCD is prolly not a good idea.

Jacob, I think you could do it on a small scale and be okay, despite nation-wide advertising on R-F haha

thats so lame! they quit making the dang kit, even though there is obviously SOME demand for it... maybe you could contact them and ask for permission to use their design. might be worth a shot!

I think asking would be much better than getting sued! ask, if they say no, dont do it. simple... at least dont do it and sell it on the internet. for yourself and friends, they would never know.

thats what I would do... unofficially of course.

since RCD is out of the Ranger biz, i doubt they peruse our forums anyway.

Another option would be to change the parts just enough so its not an exact copy.

The parts hes talking about I think are just the coilover mounts not the lift brackets, you would need someone to make you lifted knuckles if you wanted to use the lift brackets.

if RCD no longer sells the parts, and someone has no other way to get them.. Idk how they would swing that. but Lawyer scum also has nasty ways of twisting ****.

Just don't refer to it as anything to do with RCD, sell them as "coil-over retrofit kits"

and Jacob, if/when you make them, have them made to the width of a Fox shock with spacers/misalignment spacers.

RCD won't even let you buy new replacements without proove that you have a kit and the part is faulty. Ask me how I know...I called them to buy bracketry.

Add me to the interested list. I want BAD.

They were still making the kit when Chris got his brackets... They've since stopped production of the kit and subsequently they must only keep parts on hand to replace existing kits out there on trucks that may fail. IDK. They wouldn't tell me why.

They wanted picture proof of a fracture on your existing wrecked truck, then you can buy the brackets. Which...really....it's pretty easy to fabricate a picture and VIN # off a junkyard truck in case they ask for it. They'll probably want the 'broken' part sent back to them anyhow since they're requiring proof of needing replacement.

Legality issues? BS. Joe on the street can't buy the brackets from RCD, and they don't even make the brackets anymore. My opinion, build 'em, sell 'em.....they can't be had anywhere else anymore. Question: is there a patent on these brackets??

yea iw as wondering if there was a patent also. even if there is, i like the idea that matt had by just saying they are "coilover retrofit" kits.... im not really in it to make a crapload of dough. i just now see the MAJOR advantages of coilovers vs torsion bars for the little cost difference on the upgrade and would like to share the awesome ride. but ill what i can come up with. i can change them up a bit and make them my own style or something so that there wont be any legal issues going on.

apparently the ride is too good cause you wont give it up haha

Also people could just keep bugging RCD about the brackets and see if they will keep just the brackets in production, but that might just **** them off too so IDK

I want a set for a stock height ranger. Wouldn't that be a good idea? I think a few more people would want some for just stock height. I sure would buy a set if you made them.
