ball joints

i decided for now to just fix my ball joints and save my money and lower my truck later on. i was reading something about the upper ones having to replace the whole arm and not just the ball joint b/c they are pressed in. is this correct? would i have to get new arms for my truck? its a 98 ranger xlt. i have never done ball joints before but im sure i could do it. anyone have a walkthrough or anything that i can look at or should i just buy a book that shows how to do everything? all i really need to know is if i just buy the ball joints without the arm would i be able to get the old ones out and put the new ones in w/o having them pressed or whatever.

depends if the upper balljoints are casted into the upper control arm, if they are not than they can be pressed out.

well it turns out it was actually my wheel bearings...again. this will be the third time in a year they have been replaced. the first shop i dont think they knew what they were doing and they put the wrong ones in right before i went on a trip and when i got back i made them change them again and put the right ones in and now they are bad again...wtf.
