BL and Hitch contimplating.........

I want to throw on a BL and have 5.5"ish of suspension lift so I would need a drop bar on a hitch to tow my boat (have less than 4"clearence on it now!) and other stuff occasionally.

The problem is I don't want my truck looking like crap with a hitch hanging 3" down!!

I know someone who welds so I was thinking that you could cut the bolt brackets and carefully move and weld 3"s lower bringing the hitch up 3" and not having to weld anything to the truck itself.

Any thoughts, Comments or anyone with some experience on this would be great. Thanks for any help in advance!

I left mine down...i have my exhaust ran in between so if i ever got rear ended or something it wouldnt get smashed...or if i went up a steep hill and my rear end hit, i would rather it be the hitch than my exhaust

When i bought my PA body lift it came with brackets to relocate the rear hitch.

I got a PA coming soon, just bought it. Don't remember anything about a hitch relocator, don't know if they exist, didn't think so anyway.

one way or another, bring the hitch up up up. it looks bad handing down. and then just get the drop down hitch ball like you were talking about !

I don't mind the hitch hanging down to much, but I do not like the exhaust tips between the bumper & the hitch.

I still have the brackets if your kit doesnt come with them.

Id like to see the brackets in question, I dont think that you know the brackets you are looking at no offense. There are no hitch relocation brackets in the kit. We have installed alot of them and the hitch cannot be relocated on the frame without cutting and welding it up.

i have a feeling there thinking the bumper spacers that are flat that are ment to take up the gap if there isnt a stock hitch is a relocator bracket that is the only thing i can think of hell us boys have put on more then 6 of them and there is no hitch relocator...

Your right my bad i just looked through my instructions, and what i thought was the hitch relocator is actually the rear bumper spacer bracket.

Cool just dont want to give the guy the wrong idea of what the lift comes with. Dont wanna get his hopes up.

i moved bills hitch up. looks better and is prolly stronger.

ScottG 08-27-2006 05:17 PM

if you move the hitch up on that much lift, where you going to find a drop down hitch bar to account for that much lift?

elmo_4_vt 08-27-2006 05:24 PM

Two things, I wouldn't hesitate to get the hitch redone/welded, however I know that some people have had luck with actually turning them upside down, and actually looking pretty good, might see if that works anyway.

As far as drop down ball mounts, I have a 6" drop down ball mount that is rated for 600lbs tongue, 6000lbs trailer from my old big truck... I guess your really too far to make shipping worth it, but the definitely sell them.
