so a couple months back, i removed the helper leafs in the rear which gave me about .75 - 1" drop. the rear still looks higher than the front so I want to get it down another inch. how could i do this?

could i maybe reinstall the helper leafs, flip the shackles then add blocks or something? or could i get shorter shackles?

I basically want about 1.5" - 2" (no more than that) of drop in just the rear.

any ideas?

 

get a rear flip kit, then get the appropriate shackles to counter the drop, so u get the height u want

well, i think brand new its $50, i only used it for a week...

and its a 5" drop....i personally just bought the 3" drop, which consisted of the flip kit, and a drop shackle...but i am useing the shackle, to acheive my lift...

but u can go to autozone and buy some shackles for like $20, and its more selectable, as far as height

 

so the flip kit would drop it 5" then i could bring it back up another 3" with new shackles? and could i install it myself?

and yes, i installed it myself, with previously no knowledge of suspensions at all...

now, i can work torsion bars like noone's bussiness, and WATCH out leaf springs! haha

 

well, that "helper spring" is jsut an overload leaf

you might want to messure front to back to determine the difference...


fliping the rear hangers is about a 2.5 inch drop. Adding a flip kit and shackle will only goes as far as a 3inch drop

IMO, if you do either of those, your front end is going to be higher... There is usually only about a 1inch difference front to back

 

there are shackles that i have used from autozoo that look long enough, and have holes spaced out enough, that he could select which height he would want good enough...

 

i'll stop by autozone tomorrow.... if they have 3" lift shackles, i might be buying that flip kit from ya brent :o)

i believe the ones i bought were actually 4 individual pieces...2 per leaf spring, and i think they measured about 7 inches long, with various holes drilled for the bolt to go thru...so u can find the right spot...

heres a pic of my kit, just so u know i got it and its in good condition...

 

would i need new u-bolts or anything , or will i be using all the existing bolts and nuts?

 

to the best of my knowledge, u'll need a new set of u-bolts...the nuts come with them....heh heh...

but i'm not 100% on that one...but hell...buy them, and dont open the box...of you dont need them, just take them back

also, the typical u-bolts from autozone will suffice fine...

I have put the rear spring blocks on top of the spring pack which dropped the rear maybe 2". still not quite level but looks and rides much better than before. However if there is some way to drop the rear about an 1.5 " more would make my truck sit like a tacoma on steroids, awesome. reversing the leaf spring/shackle mounts with those bolts you have to grind off looks hard. thanks for any help
