Brake Assembly

Alright so a few weeks ago I put new rotors and pads on since the rotors were pretty warn down and beginning to warp. I got them in easy and everyting was riding nice.

Until today on the way to go fishing I hear the sound of something hitting metal..(ding)..i stopped and wondered if it was from my truck or the ground. On the way back the brake on my drivers side was sounding horrible. I park it in the garage and jack it up to find that the piece that holds the brake pads and brake cylinders is missing one of it bolts. Its one of the two that hold the piece on.

Where can I get the bolt to replace it? Can I go to any auto parts store or would I have to order it from Ford or something? Any help would be appreciated. I want to fix this asap!

I assume your talking about the caliper bracket bolt, not the bolt that goes into the slide pin?

Should be another bolt holding it in, take it off and go to the hardware store and get the same one.

And get some loc-tite, and torque to 80 ft-lbs, almost as much as you would use to put your tire on. Hard to get this with a small rachet, get a breaker bar out and go to town.

Now, redo the other side with loc-tite so the same thing doesn't happen.

Worst case, go to the junk yard and get one, I think they are all the same size.

Dealers are a rip off for brakes. They wanted $28 a side just for the anti-rattle clips!

Hardware store??!! I don't THINK so.

Try the Auto Parts store. They had caliper bolts for a GrandAm that I recently did a brake job on.

Worst case, go to Ford.

Good advice on the Loc-tite and torque.
