BallJoints and Tie-Rods

How hard is it to install these? I have never installed either before so i'm not sure of the process. Whats a good brand for these, I'm not going to buy some cheap *** ones....

Moog is a good brand. NAPA's premium brand is good also. Both of them are greasable types and last longer.

Lower ball joints require a special tool to remove/install called a ball joint press. You can get one at Harbor Freight for around $40 -- cheaper when they're on sale.

You could also use a "pickle fork" aka ball joint separator.

Pay special attention to your upper passenger side arm. There are two designs out there -- one that is two pieces and one that is a single piece. If you have the two piece design, it's cheaper to replace just the outer section, which helps the cost. You generally only need to replace that part, which has the ball joint in it.

Edge 4x2's use the same upper ball joints as the 4x4 Edge/XLT, while XLT 4x2's use one with a smaller shaft. Lower ball joints are the same across all models.

Also, be careful if you install the lower ball joints yourself. They are marked for direction and must be properly oriented to allow full travel and avoid balljoint damage.

I think i'll just have these installed because the more i look at this the less confindence i get in myself...Cause i dont really think i know what i'm doing....lol

Hey if anyone sees this. I was wondering how much grease to put in them I just got some moogs and I got a grease gun.
