cheapest method of lowering?
Hey all,
I am new to the Rangers, I was wondering what is the cheapest and best way of lowering my 98 2wd 4banger 5 spd ranger? I am wanting to lower it about 2.5 inches! |
put 4 donut tires on. that should lower it a few inches and you can get them for almost free.
|
flip the rear hangers and cut the coils. However I really don't recommend doing something that dangerous.
|
remove coils and leafs. bolt it all back up and only run shocks.
|
I thought you wanted the cheapest lifting way but nvm. As far as cheap goes lower your tire pressure, run shocks only, buy a car, get a fat kid to sit in the back, make the ground higher. You need to actually spend money if you don't want crap.

buy the 2/3 drop kit. there is no other way to do it safely all jokes aside
|
take out your valve stems.
|
what about taking the tires/wheels off and running on just rotors and drums:shrug:

yea, just get new coils up front and control arms and then flip the rear LOL. 4/5 is what I'd end up doing

whats not safe about cutting the coils and flipping the rear hangers like you first suggested? Nothing wrong with cutting the coils as logn as you dont heat them up and dont take to much off to the point where you can align it. Flipping the rear hangers is safe to just make sure you get the proper bolts and nuts to put it back together. That should cost you about 10 bucks in bolts and about a couple hours worth of work. |
what he said^ just because its not a kit made by a company doesnt mean its not safe.

Why you guys gotta scare him? there is nothing wrong with cutting coils, or flipping hangers. If flipping the hangers was dangerous, then so would about 90% of the Bolt on Kits out there, becuase for all of them, you drill holes in the frame and run grade 8 bolts. |
my splash had fliped hangers its fine.. thats how chevy trucks come stock...and bought my belltech coils of ebay for like $60

That is not good for the springs. I had about that much concrete in my truck now it sits lower in the back and the leafs are flat. |
