chevy swap delima

does the front hanger change on the rangers from year to year? i was under the truck lookin the other day and it looks like the front hanger on mine would hit the body mount when it was relocated. it that a problem on others? or will it not hit it?

ranger024x4 Nov 2, 2006 08:05 PM

how far forward are you planing on moving it... i think i only moved mine like 4-5 inches max

got-dirty Nov 2, 2006 08:30 PM

your supposed to move the rear mounting holes to the old front holes are you not? if so, then it looks like the hanger will be on the bodymount bracket.

ranger024x4 Nov 2, 2006 08:33 PM

strange, that is what you are suppose to do.. mine doesnt have any body mounts near where it should be..

ranger024x4 Nov 2, 2006 08:36 PM

just went out and looked on my truck...

Mine is pretty far from that rear cab mount.. i think yours is so close because you have a reg cab and a reg bed...

man your name change keeps screwin with my head. i keep expectin to see someone else postin. wierd!

but thanks for the info/help. is the hanger on yours quite large? mine is in the shape of a v, and has a quite large opening up top.

the hanger is different on the -97 and 98+ trucks.

there is a write up someplace about chevy spring swaps on older gens, wish i could remember where i saw that...

You shouldn't have a problem. I have Chevy 63" leafs on my reg cab short wheel base 96 and I had no problems.

n3elz Nov 3, 2006 06:20 PM

You may have another problem: some earlier Rangers have narrower springs -- I take it you mave matched the widths up?

got-dirty Nov 3, 2006 06:25 PM

not yet. should be 2.5" right? ive got a 97, so it should be ok.
