Coil over conversion..

Wondering if there was a guide to a coil over conversion.. I searched and couldn't find one.. Just wondering how much work it would be and what needed to be done..

I'm sure this question has been answered before but, what coil-overs would somebody doing this to a stock height truck need?

I searched about my question and found multiple threads asking the same question and none of which had an answer.

all you need for your truck, (being a stock height) is the bracket's, and the coilovers. You don't need extended brake lines due to the fact your still stock height. So contact NICK over at ORW and tell em what you have, and he'll hook you up!

Are the braces on the sides the only thing that needs to be welded..

Yes. There's just the four gussets. Oh and I read orange rangers thread and it STILL didn't answer the question to what coil-over's I would need.

I believe Nick said you need a 2.0" x 5.0" coil-over. Keep in mind that you can't buy just any 5.0" coil-over though. The coil-over's you get from Nick at ORW are custom made for the Ranger. So you will still need to contact Nick.

The kit comes with Fox 2.0 Emulsions. And the ranger uses 650 lb springs. My limit strap mounts are welded on but that's because I'm not using the anti roll bar which is where the limit straps originally mount. But if your going to use your anti roll bar than the gussets are all that need to be welded.

Ride quality. The coil overs ride way better than torsion bars. Better on road handling, off road handling and with a stock setup you can get anywhere from 0-2 inches of lift without sacrificing ride quality. You can get the same ammount of lift as cranking the torsion bars but your ride won't suffer at all. Even when getting 2 inches of lift out of the coils the truck rides way better than it did before I even touched the torsion bars

Your better off spending the money and doing it right the first time and lifting it with coil overs.. No offense but coils arent cheap at all. I mean new set of shocks is far cheaper and unless your going to lift it a high end shock which is still cheaper is your better bet.. its like throwing money away if you ask me. Coil overs for my car were about $1800. For that i could almost have a real lift kit that i could do the coil over conversion on.

The coil over kit is only 675. Not bad in my opinon. Works for me for the time being until I lift it. Then I'll just buy longer coil overs

You know if i could buy anything bigger than a 4" Super lift i would but they just dont make them for our trucks so i have to resort to the body lift..

The kit ORW sells uses Fox shocks. Not really a cheap shock...

Chris was that including the brackets or was that just the coil-overs? $675 isn't TOO bad. I can get the brackets made for free from a friend so that saves a good bit of money right there.
