Yea, you cut the stock bracket off and there should be a hole in the frame. I used that. There might be pics in my build thread.

 

So, how many of these sets have been sold total? Seems like more people would've come back and posted more feedback on how the install went, what they used, etc. I know we have plenty of input, but it seems like there's been at least 3 runs or more?

I sure as heck will when I ever get mine on. For now I'll say all I can. It was packaged excellently with a mix of foam wrapping and newspaper filler and the powedercoat looks very nice and done right. So, for what all that's worth. It sure is nice to look at.

 

This is the fourth round. There have been 40 sets shipped so far since the beginning, and I've asked tons of guys to post install pics, but I haven't seen a lot, considering. I think Mikerider has posted the most so far, and they're some very helpful pics. I greatly appreciate the feedback, and anyone that posts pics up for others to see, particularly with some good install pics. I didn't take many pics when I installed mine, because I'd been focussing on getting the prototype set in and tested.

I'm officially going first come, first serve. I've recieved no response from guys in weeks, and I've tried to directly contact everyone. I have to get these things moved.

Got mine!! As a welder you might want to give your guy welding this up a tighter tolerance for porosity and making sure weldings are the same on each end product.

Just ordered 12" 525lbs springs for a stock set up. Looking for some input. I have about a week to change the order if I feel like I should.

 

Some guys have been running into issues running a 12" tall spring on a stock height truck. Those are the same height that a Superlifted or RCD Lifted truck runs.

Most stock guys have better luck with a 10" spring setup.

However, maybe that lighter weight 12" setup would still work well.

Thanks! I was suggested to get the 12" by a off road shop owner... He said that's what he would do, so hopefully it will work out! I told him that most people are running 10" on a stock height but he came to the conclusion after I showed him some of these threads to do the 12" at a lighter weight.

Yeah, Sonny from DownSouth Motorsports said the same thing to me when I purchased everything back when I was stock height.

Typically the 'rule of thumb' is the springs should be twice the length of the shock travel. However, Fox suggests a 12" spring with a 5" coilover - so that's why they normally roll together.

When I was going to gear up for it - I purchased a 10" spring setup as a 'backup' just in case.

What brands are you looking for?

Most vendors of the 'major' brands (Fox, King, Bilstein, etc.) are all going to be about the same price....really comes down to service at that point.

 

Looking at Fox Shox and King Springs. Cheapest I've seen the shocks is 207 from the afore mentioned sites. As far as service goes then who is recommended?

 

Most guys use ORW or Downsouth Motorsports.

Down south was helpful and I had a special request. They did it no charge. Idk how simple it was but it made me happy.

 

Yeah, I just emailed them and they replied almost right away. I was asking about the extended eyelets and valving. They told me i'd only pay cost of the eyelets and install of those and valving was free before they shipped them. They also said they work with these conversions for the explorer and rangers a lot and have several valving options that work well depending on the application so i'll probably be going with them.

Moneypit, thanks for the pic post! I'm glad everyone is pleased with these and I was able to fill the need here.

 

If you get the Fox shocks and extended eyelets, definitely do NOT get the 12" springs. The link that logan03CO posted showing the problems getrdone52 had shows exactly why. At the lowest possible preload setting, he was sitting too high and experiencing coil rub on the upper control arm (not to mention his CV joints and ball joints would wear out very quickly if he were to drive around like that).

I would be able to get away with 12" springs on my setup because I used different shocks, and custom made my extended rod ends, which are shorter than the Fox extended rod ends, so they don't push the ride height up as high. However, I still would not recommend it to someone on a stock truck.
