Well yeah - Moving that top spring seat adjusts not only the preload, but also the ride/suspension height, and accommodates for different spring lengths.

For any of this 'general' type of coilover knowledge and/or shock terminology I suggest people read up on the following two links:
It has everything - definitions, operation information, shock theory & in-depth calculations, instructions on rebuilding & revalving your coilovers, installing & removing springs - The list goes on & on.

Just tons of this type of general (aka - Non-Ford Ranger specific) coilover information - Literally everything.

I'll need to get a spanner wrench then. Thanks! I was gunna ask what you use to adjust the preload.

hmm, Im thinking I will need some of these brackets when my tax return comes in.

only thing removed with these is the Torsion bars right? sway bar and everything gets to stay?

Those of you that have done this, are you glad you did? well, you will be, lets rephrase that, HOW glad are you?

Extended swaybar endlinks are for a Superlift. They've got nothing to do with a coilover conversion. As far as whatever else you need, it's shocks, springs, and limit straps. If you need extended eyelets for the shocks, and they aren't available from the manufacturer of the shocks you chose, I can make those, but I would need a shock to fit them.

If you go with Fox, they have what you need available already.

Thanks. I think my shock choice will either be Fox or Strange. I want to keep something that has already been done before. ME00Stepside, have you already change out your 10" spring for a 12" spring already?

I would like a kit please.

I'm finding the fox coil-overs for stock height (2.0 x 5") are $207 each. Anybody find them cheaper? I know I'll need the extended eyelet as well, bump stops and limiting straps. Anything else I'm not thinking of?

Edit: my other question was the deciding factor on spring height and spring weight for a stock truck? I'll be offroading so the lift and travel are important. I'll probably be putting 32" tires on.

10-4, I was just wondering how well the 12" spring would mate up to the Strange shock. I will keep monitoring this thread... ME00Stepside, what kind of shocks are you using in the rear?

OK guys. The list is getting up there. I'll start taking payments now, and get the ball rolling. I should be able to have a ship date around the first or second week of May.

You can get springs pretty cheap from Summit Racing. They carry a few different brands. I have their brand spring, (and I don't remember off the top of my head who makes them) and they haven't sagged yet. They were only $70/pair, black powdercoat.

Sweetness thanks! Let me know how the spring change goes. We're all eager! Also how are payments going to be made? I can't find the thread with that info on it
