coilover clarification
 

so very wanting to put money down on some coilovers. as of right now i'm an 01 explorer st running on the torsion bars cranked all the way up 3" (note i'm a 2wd) with 33's and minor fender trimming to the plastic in the inner fenderliner. As far as i know you will only get 2.5" of clearance maximum with the coilovers.(fox 2.0x6.0 emulsions with the eibach 750# springs.) is there any possible way to get it back to the original 3" back? would a taller coilover work? if so would it be the the actual shock need to be taller or could i use a taller spring? would there be any problems with the upper ball joints binding and premature wear? i understand all the threads on here. but they all refer to 4wd and superlift doodoo. please don't bag me, i've searched all day and am inching closer and closer but there are only a few questions keeping me from doing coilovers. so please. much help is needed. thanks guys!

I'd get the correct length and travel coil-over you need regardless. You might get away with another 1/2" or so since you have a 2wd. Only one way to find out, and I'm sure 1/2" isn't a deal breaker if you experience issues. Wish I could be of more help, but I don't have a 2wd.

very true man, i mean 33's should lose tread sometime so i mean i guess it could be a win win situation too if i can't get an extra 1/2" out of them haha. but i appreciate you taking a look at the thread! i see you blowing up other coilover threads and i'm sure when you saw mine you were like "ahh great another guy asking the same ole questions about coilovers...damnit i should help him though" haha i appreciate again though dude.
