Considering lifting my 93 2.3l 2wd

I am thinking about lifting my truck and just had a few ?s. I am wanting to fit some 31x10.5s underneath it and don't know how much of a lift I will need for clearance. Susp or body? I have a single leaf in the back (factory) and stock coils up front. I want the best result for a decent price.

Twin-Is ruuuuule!!!! lol

lifted97ranger Jun 29, 2007 08:29 AM

you will need roughtly 2"-3" to fit 31's.........

my only recommendation is GEARS, GEARS, GEARS, GEARS, GEARS.....

i hope my recommendation got across...

93longbed Jun 29, 2007 08:38 AM

Uh yeah. Something about gears? I would probably need to go with a 4.10 rearend. What would be a good way to lift it? Coils, spindles, I-beams? AAL, shackles, blocks?

lifted97ranger Jun 29, 2007 08:44 AM

coils, coil spacers for the front.......new leaf pack, AAL, shackles, blocks for the rear....

i would say it would be safe to say you already have a 4.10 rear gear...

93longbed Jun 29, 2007 08:47 AM

If I already have a 4.10 would going to a 4.56 be better. GEAR, GEAR, GEAR.

lifted97ranger Jun 29, 2007 08:51 AM

yes.....

93longbed Jun 29, 2007 09:08 AM

Is there a ranger/explorer that came with stock 4.56 that I could find in a junkyard and just replace the whole rearend?

lifted97ranger Jun 29, 2007 09:12 AM

nope....

93longbed Jun 29, 2007 09:35 AM

Figures. Well if I'm going to have to regear it might as well go with 5.12. What comapanies sell a good leaf pack to replace the single that ive got now?

lifted97ranger Jun 29, 2007 09:43 AM

lifted leafs:shrug:

if they are lifted, then i would go with either Skyjacker or Superlift.....the Superlift's will be a bit stiffer than the Skyjackers.....i have the Skyjackers on the rear of my truck and they ride absolutely amazing...

Cool Thanks for your help

Another question. Would coils from a 4wd raise the front end up. Maybe ones from a 3.0 or 4.0? Twin I-beam set up of course.

no....4wd TTB Rangers get their lift form the axle beams....the coils are the same from a 2wd and a 4wd Ranger....

Ive been looking around and think that I have decided to go with 2" coils w/ spacers (total of 3" or so) in the front and blocks in the back. Don't know if AAL would work with a single leaf type of spring.

LayingFrame89 Jun 29, 2007 07:43 PM

yeah i fit 31X10.50 witha 2 lift lift coil and stock 4X4 blocks that Lifted97Ranger so nicely sold me

Did he mention you need gears hahaha my truck is crying for some new gears my 3:73 are killing me and thats prob what you have in yours also

I've got 3.45s AAAAHHHHHHH!!!!! Change of plans. 2" coils 2" body, 8.8 rearend with 4.10 or 4.56 should let me run 31s Any thoughts?

5speedin2.3 Jul 2, 2007 08:52 AM

im running 31's with just a 2" coil spacer..
should be fine with a 4.10 or a 4.56 gear..

you will not find a 4.56 installed in a stock rear.....they never made them from the factory that way......

4.10's you will find in a stock axle........and a 4.10 should be plenty...

johnson Jul 2, 2007 09:52 AM

you can use coils off of an f-150 (stock) and it will lift it like 2- 3 inches...

and make it ride like a log wagon.....F-150 spring rates would be too great for a 4 banger Ranger...

99ranger4x4 Jul 2, 2007 10:34 AM

it would still lift it:dance:

Any clearance problems i.e. bumper, frame etc. with just coil spacers?
