Damn problem too low
Have the DJM 4" drop in the front, Control arms, and Springs. With the weight of the engine it is sitting too low to be legal at the track, and I don't even have the turbo's on yet. Is there any way to raise the front end now. If I remember, the stock springs will not fit back in with the DJM control arms? Thanks, I need this to be done in about a week.

what about getting some custom coils made to hold that weight?
airbags? i thought those guys were running those arms on lifted trucks? also why doesnt the stock springs work? can you cut them up some? |
Yeah, but I don't want to make them too stiff. I want them to be mushy so when they come up, they stay way up so they mash the rear tires into the track.

Don't they sell airbags that fit inside of the coil springs that could be inflated to help hold the front end up but wouldn't affect the up travel of the spring.

Airbags are not legal for NHRA tracks, but I like the way you guys are thinking.

Actually, the stock springs will work with the DJM arms. I'd put them back in and see where you sit. Else, If I remember correctly, my '67 Fairlane had the same diameter springs, but they were longer. You could get someone at an auto parts supplier to cross reference spring diameter and free length and rate to get you what you need.

Actually found a set of stock upper and lower control arms about 20 minutes ago. Thanks guys.

I would still suggest running the DJM arms with a different coil. They are stronger, and will allow for better geometry at full droop.
|
Well, I am happy to report that even though the guys at DJM said the stock coils would not fit with the DJM arms, they were wrong. They fit perfect, and gave me the exact ride height I wanted/needed.

Woot!

heck yes.

Give me the truck, I'll make it work, then you can buy it back from me thanks! haha
I would find out what rate those springs are, the ID for the spring and length and order up some new ones from hypercoil... Same length and ID coils, just a much stiffer rate. Seems easiest to me, and probably the least expensive. |
i think you need to send thoes DJM arms to me, i will put them to good use
