98' and up 4x4 and Trailhead only
01' and up 4x4 and Edge only

All others are Coilsping.

Easy way to tell is to look. If you see a long bar going to the LCA its T-Bars, if you see a coil spring on the LCA there's no T-Bars

i think they added them to 4x4 98 and up, and all of the edges have them

And, as Jason mentioned, the predecessor of the Edge, the "Trailhead".

and im pretty sure they dont add height, the way they sort of force the suspension to set up is wut gives it the bit o clearance.

so why is a front end of an edge higher then an 4x2 xl/xlt?

The front crossmember is different, as is the spindle. This is how the front lift is acheived. Even the power steering rack on a 4x2 Edge mounts just like the 4x4 because there is room inside the front crossmember for it. On a regular 4x2, the rack mounts on a plate that sticks out from the crossmmber.

Edge 4x2's have 11.25" brakes even in earlier models, as opposed to the 10.25" rotors on XL's and some XLT's.

The 4X4 needs to be taller to accomodate the front differential. The Torsion setup keeps the suspension out of the way of the half shafts.
The Edge is based on that suspension, so it's taller than the XLT and XL. It doesn't have to be, but it is by design. In the back, Ford just added lift blocks on the leafs.

the way that the torsion bar suspension needs to be set up gives the truck added clearance then a truck with coils up front. so the setup kinda forces more height. not that complicated kids.
