Dumb newby suspension question
Dumb newby suspension question
Got a bone stock 2000 Ranger, 2WD wanna lower it slightly, not scraping, just a couple of inches. What is the best way, without having to fool with the drive shaft length, and front end misery..
Use lower profile tires
You probably have 29" diameter tires now
Put on 23" diameter, a 6" difference so a 3" drop in height, drop is 1/2 the overall diameter change in the tire
Nothing else in the suspension or drive train changes, its just 3" closer to the ground

I appreciate the reply, but that is not what I want to achieve. I want the body closer to the meats, not necessarily closer to the ground. I would like for the fender cutouts to just barely cover the top of the tires, and actually plan to put larger tires on the rear, and leave the 215/70's on the front.
Then you are stuck with changing the front suspension, there is nothing really secret or mysterious about this type of thing

Now we are talkin'. YES, exactly what I needed to see. Thank you for the info and the link. This is gold. Mine is E-4 bright red, I am seeing it lowered slightly, maybe Crager SS or Torq Thurst wheels and bigger meats.
(I am 75, so I am into vintage mixed with new).
