somethings wrong with my 03 Edge 4x4

When I am driving sometimes there is a wierd creek coming from the front drivers side. I can't imagine what it is. Its only at low speeds and especially when turning. Its really loud too I get looks from people. It has new ball joints I know. Any ideas?

Well I have a theory on what it may be after speaking to my dad. Its not only a creek but its also a clunk too. He thinks it may be the electronic 4WD not disengaging. Time to go in for 50/50 warranty. I wonder what this is going to cost. Also I wonder if it was supposed to be looked at under the 60 point inspection...

That sounds like ball joints out but since they are new idk, are they all new or just the lower or upper ones.

lower are new, uppers look OK. I am still leaning towards the 4WD not disengaging correctly.

you'd feel it if it weren't disengaging. Sounds like the uppers, or tie rod ends

I thought that would be a clicking sound? I know on FWD cars when the CV's are worn/broke they click like mad

Yeah, it doesnt sound like 4wd not disengaging. I'm betting that you'll have another issue on hand, whether it be ball joints or cv shaft

Its confirmed not to be a CV shaft. After further investigation its it more of a SCREEECHING sound coming from the left front. Definately not a normal sound, and it doesnt seem to be the 4x4 either. caliper related maybe?? Loose pad, bolt, something rubbing?...I am going to have to take the wheel off and check it out.

I'd guess the hub too. When you jack up your truck, and before you loosen any lug nuts see if you can "rock" the tires. If so, it's probably your hub, your description is exactly like what I had happening. If it's the hub, go to ebay, otherwise your looking at around 400 bucks from an auto store.

Diagnosis....very bad wheel bearing. It should have failed inspection yet the dealership put an inspection sticker on it anyway. I was told that I should not even be driving it because it is so loose. You should see how much play there is in the wheel.

I took it back to the dealership today and told them I wasnt paying for it. (I have a 30 day 50/50 warranty) I told them they get to keep in until its fixed and that I needed a loaner vehicle. When I told them I wasnt paying for it, they said they would see how bad it was and if need be they will have the sate police look at it. I told them not to worry as the state police will be informed either way. Something like this is dangerous and their license should be revoked. I am calling the state police now.
