fabtech spindle observation

well i have had the truck lifted now for almost 2 months and have driven about 1000 miles in that time and i love the feel and the look of a lifted ranger but i have noticed a few things... in rain it seems like i don't have any brakes... is this because i don't have any shields on the disk? in dry weather it stops perfectly fine  anyone else noticed this?

n3elz 04-11-2007 07:49 PM

Maybe try a different pad? Mine are fine and I'm in about the same configuration.

The brakes are less effective with the big tires though, and I think that is magnified in the rain more than it would be. Maybe our trucks are the same, but I don't see it as severe after operating this way for so long -- you know, you kind of get used to something after awhile.

iv noticed the break thing to but the rotor dires it fast enough.

john you and i do have the same setup but im still running 31's and my rotors are also the stock ones... not sure if that makes a difference but it might

dirtydave7 04-12-2007 08:32 AM

im still running 31's stock without a lift. im in georgia and it still hasn't rained. ill let you know if i have problems in the rain when it actually does. sorry to ask, but im considering the fabtech lift. any other problems with the lift or wheels to look out for?

winks 04-12-2007 08:42 AM

Have you inspected your brake lines after you lifted the truck?

Roach2004 04-12-2007 08:59 AM

If your like me your brake lines a stretched out on turns and stuff that might cause alittle brake problem

ShockFuel 04-12-2007 09:28 AM

I plan on installing the fabtech spindles, as well. I'm probably going to replace my break lines. Then again, I'll probably have to after my 3in. BL and SL.

yes they are fine... i do need to install the steering stops still since i do lose brakes if i turn the wheel all the way... i knew about this ahead of time so it has only happened once... in dry weather the brakes are perfect... it does make since that they would get water on the rotors in the rain since the shields are gone

i cant find braided lines for our trucks anywhere... you know where to get them?

redranger4.0 04-13-2007 05:01 AM

any decent shop can order you some. they just need a length and fitting type.

I can have some made locally.

get a length and pics of the fittings and it will prolly be around 100 bucks.

I doubt its the shields as I had mine installed on this axle and when we did the gears we took them off and I have not noticed anything.
