Front End Rebuild

Greetings all,

My Ranger (2001 2x4, EDGE, 4.0v6) is in dire need of a front end rebuild, all, and I mean ALL, of the bushings are gone and the anti-roll bar bushings are going next. I have already bought the upper control arms and went to order the lowers and noticed my truck has the torsion bar style suspension (is this on all rangers?). Would it be easier to take her to a shop with a lift or try to do it on a weekend in the driveway? If the latter what is the most optimal way to do this. Funnily enough, I took autobody in HS and even ASE/FADA certified yet never learned how to do major front end work. I don't have many tools outside of the commons, mechanic's set, impact wrench (pneumatic), impact/drill driver (cordless). Would I need to purchase anything else?

Not all Rangers have the torsion bars, mine is an 03 2WD XL with coil springs and I am doing about the same as you.

I started out just replacing the front rotors and pads and after removal discovered that my spindles are scored badly after 257K miles. I am replacing the lower ball joints, upper control arms, inner and outer tie rods, sway bar bushings and my spindles, also new inner and outer bearings and seals. I went with FoMoCo parts from the dealer so if you need part numbers I have them but not sure if they are the same for torsion bar front end.
