Expo axle Drop?

how much would it lower my rear if I were to do the explorer rear end swap but left the perches the way they are and used Spring under axle set up.

I have been looking at possible lifts forever and never done much research on drops, but a lift just doesn't seem realistic in my future. so are there drop kits just for the frotn end? I wouldnt want to go very much lower but I'd like the braking of the swap and possibly an ls and more stable suspension with less body roll.

I def want the rear discs and if I do drop I'd switch to bigger rims so I'd do a big break upgrade all the way around! pimp!

Only problem is with the 95+ axles (ones with disks) the spring perchs do not line up with rangers, they are wider.

I was also looking into doing the ex. rear axle swap. The dude at the junkyard said it'd give me about an inch extra on each side. I guess the axle is two inches longer?? Which is cool cuz I've heard nothing but bad things about wheel spacers and this would kill three birds with one stone.
I found one at a junkyard 31 spline 8.8 w/discs for $75. Not too bad I guess for 60,000 miles on a '98. I reallllllyyyyy wanna swap out my rear. I have no clue where to start. I have the tools and the know how. Just lack concise direction.

but the leafs still fit on the perches? I dont remember this being a problem when we put a 96 explorer axle in my buddies 97 ranger

it gives closer to a 4inch drop

and the explorer axle is 1.5 inches wider then the ranger axle, meaning its an extra .75 inches on each side

there is probably something wrong with that axle.........because they usually go for about $200 from a you pull it yard.......if there isn't anything wrong with it you better ****** it up REAL quick because that is 1 HELL OF A DEAL!!!

Was that the drum one you did the how too on?

You are right.. its been a while since I looked at it.

Welp, then all I can say is when you do it besure to measure everything before you start taking stuff apart. I know my 00' explorer axle had its perchs at a differant spot than they needed to be...

ohhh I thought youwere saying the actual perch itself was too wide so the leafs would slide left and right or something.

did any year or model Explorer come with an L/S already in it?
