Gear Programmer for 2011 2.3l ranger???
Gear Programmer for 2011 2.3l ranger???
Hello everyone
This is my first post, and I need some opinions from your ranger experts
Like the title says I have a 2011 for ranger 2.3l manual transmission
I'm currently using 235/70/14 tires on stock rims
With much research I quicky found out lifting my truck (this year) is expensive since they don't make the spindles for my year and make
I will be purchasing a Body lift kit 3inches ($240) and have a shop install it ($550).
Now I really want 33's tires with 15 rims, only problem is I belive I would need to Regear..... Now I called a couple of places its roughly around $1000 to Regear but they say I need a "Gear Programmer" as well and that they don't make for my year?? But I've seen 2011 ranger with 35's so I know it's possible
Any ideas ? I really want to put some 33's I just want to do things right the first time
Thanks

I assume they mean that Ranger software doesn't have listings for 33" tires, so speedo/odo would be off
235/70/14 has 27" diameter
33" is well 33", lol
If you changed from a 27" tire to a 33" tire and you have a 3.73 rear axle ratio now, then the actual ratio would change to 3.05, so no pulling power, no get up and go
If you changed the rear ratio to 4.56 then with the 33" tires you would be back to actual 3.73 ratio, so same as you have now, and speedo/odo would be correct, or as correct as they are now, lol
Look at your door label to see what AXLE you have now, then look here: Ford 7.5 & 8.8 Inch Axle Tag & Door Codes
If you don't have 3.73 now then post what you do have, so you can swap to the correct ratio that will get you back to "normal", no programming required
