Ok so I've been researching this for a good while now and although I know nobody sells the kit anyways I might as well just do it myself. I know for a fact everyone likes running 2.0s but am wondering if 2.5s would work? I mean I used a measuring tape from my original shock to a half inch and looks like it would clear... But people that's with a measuring tape... Would there be any issues?

You measured 3" right? Because the 2.5s will have a spring on them that is at least 3" if not a bit larger. it would be super tight on droop in that upper arm. that would be my concern.

Very good point. Should a limit strap be in order? This truck is strictly seeing street no dirt. But for the weight I got the 2.5s. There's a guy somewhere on here that snapped the shaft on his 2.0s on a speedbump with his ranger. Now with a 4 door sport trac with over 4000 lbs curb weight with 33's as my dd doesn't go by too smoothly in my head. Another problem I've seen is nobody has done this conversion with a sport trac as far as I know.

sport track or ranger, curb weight is that much different. a loaded ranger is like 3800lbs, sport track is 4000, each corner probably isnt that much different until you weigh the rear.

I am running 2" coilovers all the way around with no issues. my rig is completely different and it weighs close to 5500lbs and is used not on the street at all.

Personally i would run 2s. even limit straping it wont be enough, you need all 6" of travel or it will ride like poo. what brand were those that broke? Did he have them in a funny angle? Bind etc? Lots of things to factor in there. He could have had the heim maxed in motion which made it bind and snap. They are hardened shafts, not meant to flex. lol

i believe they were bilstien and a guy replied on his thread saying his foxes broke too. i talked to the guys up at king and told them my situation and they said the 2.5s would be better to go with. i even talked to another guy running them and said they should work. i just went outside and took a piece of paper and measured all the way around the shock with that. this time i measured 3 inches around instead of 2.5 and the only place it where it would look like it would rub is on the frame but thats off of my stock shock boot not off the actual shock. i looked at the control arm and they look like they would pass thru with no problem. but im sure you know how it is there could always be a problem pop up... haha. but i thought i was completely right about getting the king 2.5's so i got them... and now im starting to doubt my good hunch a bit.... lemme see if i can find his thread.

Your only advantage is you are 2wd.... it might just fit in the control arm. You could always run like a DJM arm and it might give you more room.

yeah thats what all the other guys said. im running all moog stuff right now. could you maybe give me a link to the right DJM part?

there was another company making a uniball arm but its really for an offroad application

nevermind i found them. ok well i'll have those as a definite backup. if worst comes to worst ill have to take off and sell the 2.5's and get the 2.0s.

How many inch travel shocks did you buy?

will do man and theyre 6.0s.

With a 2wd and different control arms a 2.5" coil-over just might work.
