This is the first suspension I've ever messed with. I think it's coming along okay.

Heres the truck before

The four link

Building the frame notches

I started boxing the frame in

I used a watts link set up for centering the rear axle instead of a pan hard bar because I didn't want the side to side movement of the axle when the airbags are filled and dumped
[IMG][/IMG]

Here it is with the four link and watts link done
[IMG][/IMG]

Frame marked where the rear lift bar crossmember will pass thru
[IMG][/IMG]

Here is the lift bar crossmember with the tabs welded at one end only, so it will slide into the frame. The tabs were four inches long. The inner one is sunk into the square tube and welded on the inside too. The outer is welded to the end of the tube.
[IMG][/IMG]

Crossmember welded into place[IMG][/IMG]
[IMG][/IMG]

I welded super pivots to the axle so it won't bind too much if I hit sides
[IMG][/IMG]

Boxed the frame
[IMG][/IMG]

Assembled the rear lift bars

Yeah, the windows will most likely get tinted dark. The interior/paint is a ways out as I'm working on the suspension then the powertrain. I've built a 302 (306) and I have a World Class T-5 trans that's soon to get dropped back into the truck.

I'm going to get it running and driving (dragging..lol) and then I'll start on the body.

The mount on the passenger side has to be lower to keep the watts link bars parellel at ride height. It doesn't pose a problem as it doesn't contact the ground when the bumper is floored. I was wondering tho when I was setting it up. Thanks for the feedback!

We don't actually have any inspections here in Michigan. Pretty much just insure and plate it and you're good. Lol. Michigan Motor Vehicle Code states that it's illegal to weld or modify the frame of a motor vehicle that is to be operated upon a roadway open to the public. Theres also a stupid law that says the lowest part of the body of the vehicle cannot be lower than the center line of the axle. But again, those laws aren't really enforced.

Nope, this is the first time I've attempted this type of project. I mean I've done the basic bolt ons before but nothing this extreme. I just did alot of research and looked at a ton of buildups that others have done and decided how I wanted mine. I can't wait to get the truck driving so I can drag it! Ha ha.

That looks like some high quality work. Those welds look great. Truck looks great overall, it will look even better when it is finished. Great work!

Got the frame and rear suspension painted with POR 15. First time using that stuff, came out nice excluding the brush marks.
[IMG][/IMG]

You can see where the bed floor will nave to get notched to cear the driveshaft..

The rear axle driveshaft flange sat slightly above the the bed floor so a change was necessary.
