Got new ball joints, and a question
I got my new lifetime balljoints from napa today, and im putting them on this weekend becasue my tires are wearing incredably fast and it needs to be aligned. But my question is: do I need to grease the upper control arm (where it attaches to the frame) cause there is 2 big rubber gromit thingys where the bolt goes threw, or just put them on? Im just wondering cuz I've never done this before, but it seems pretty easy. thanks

you say you got upper balljoints from NAPA. That's great, what brand? Before you start to tackle this job, make sure that you have control arms that allow you to remove the balljoints. Many of the Ranger upper control arms have the balljoint CAST in, not PRESSED in. What that means is that whe you go to change the balljoint, you have to do the whole control arm. Now, mind you, that's not EVERY Ranger, just most of them. SO make sure that it can be done.
As for your actual question regarding the control arm bushings where they mount to the frame, no, there's no way of greasing them at all. There's no zerk (grease) fitting in them. If you remove the control arms at all, the only thing I would do is maybe apply a little bit of silicone into the bushing where the bold goes through. That will allow the bolt to go in easier and cut down on potential squeaks

yeah put grease on em, do they have greese zerk fittings on them?
I know my aftermarket DJM ones have greese fittings where they connect to the frame in case it gets loud just shoot some greese in there and instant quiet after driving 5 miles with them in lol. But then again mine are aftermarket and for dropped coils pring suspension..
