Hub Centric Rings????
 

With all the monster wheels I see on some of these mod's do any of you guys use Hub Centric Rings? Are they that important for a 15 X 7 Wheel on my 07 2WD 2.3 4 cylinder?

I have never used a Hub centric ring. my tires are balanced and ride smooth as glass.

most aftermarket wheels are conical lug seats that center the wheel to the studs it isnt like say a stock f-150 wheel say 2000 that has a flat seat that will not center anything

Thats what I think, the reason is "I'm told" that the OEM rims is sitting on the hub. With the after market rims the weight of the truck in now sitting on the lugs and may damage them over time. I have two sets of rims and tires for my truck. The OEM's for winter and the after market for summer...they both ride the same, no vibrations what so ever. I find it hard to believe a small plastic ring makes a difference.

I got a reply back from Summit Racing and Wheelsforless.com They both (almost word for word) told me to seek another tire shop! Rangers have always been "Lug Centric" and almost all after market rims are designed that way.

Ive heard the same thing as Javens, the weight of the truck sitting on the bolts can cause damage over time.
I cant say if that is true or not myself as my rims have been aftermarket for about 5 yrs now.

however, I can say Ive experienced a lot more vibration from my ranger with the aftermarket rims, that I never got with the stockers. and Ive had them balanced on high speed machines (not sure of the difference)
Im looking to get some centric rings and see if it removes the shimmies I get, so I'll update when I do.

road force the tires and actually find someone that will run the tire till zero alot of stupid tire shop kids stop around .25

thanks for that info, I just remembered seeing .25 on the machine when they were balancing them, and that was only 1 of the tires.
I wish my old tire shop I used to use didnt dik me around last year, they did awesome balancing, always set at 0 on a high speed machine. but since they cost me $250.0 due to over-inflating 2 of my tires, 1 was at 53 lbs and the other at 51 lbs cold, 1 ended up warped and the other bubbled after less than 50 miles.

guess I'll be looking for another tire shop again :squint:
