i hate doetchs lifts atm

ok well i got the 3in suspension lift for my 2000 ford ranger 2wd with coil spring supension... the lift did not come with a adjustable alignment cam so i bought the fabtech one... well i put the lift on an it looked nice tightened everything down realy good an drove it across a couple bumps to just test it wel.. heres were the issues begin.... the dang upper control arms slid way back into the mounts an the balljoints and spindle are hitting the frame!!! SOMEONE EXPLAIN WHAT THE HECK I CAN DO CUZ MY FRONT TIRES ARE LEANING LIKE THIS / \

Fx4wannabe01 05-25-2008 03:40 PM

well....on a spindle lift, you really shouldn't need new cam bolts.....

Yessick 05-25-2008 03:44 PM

no it is a 3in coil spring lift with new upper a arms and 3in coils ect....

RazorsEDGE 05-25-2008 03:44 PM

You didnt get them tight enough.......

Yessick 05-25-2008 03:47 PM

i got like a 8 foot long breaker bar lol an ive tightened the holy !!!! outta them an they still break loose

Fx4wannabe01 05-25-2008 03:50 PM

Yea...if the upper bolts are not tightened correctly, and the upper arm "slides" in their slides where they mount, your tires would look like this : / \

You sure you install the cam bolt kit correctly?

Get a 10 ft bar then!

Or find someone that has a nice impact you can use....

Yessick 05-25-2008 03:52 PM

ok well going back outside to fight this dang truck ill let yall know how it goes soon

Fx4wannabe01 05-25-2008 03:59 PM

If it means anything...i use impact on everything....including those upper bolts.

RazorsEDGE 05-25-2008 04:03 PM

I used an impact on mine also, never had a problem with 'em slipping.

You could also just take the truck for an alignment. You probably need one anyways and the shop that does it will torque the cams properly.

:worthless

Sucks, I just have spindles and they required trimming of the lca..

ScottG 05-25-2008 04:15 PM

did you get an alignment too?

Cause they would have tighten the camber adjusters too

Yessick 05-26-2008 12:31 AM

alignment has to come tuesday cuz monday is a holiday an everything is closed.. i fixed the tires being like: / \ issue got me a long ole crow bar poped the hood an slip it down behind the upper control arms an held it out as my buddys tightened them down an now i got it all fixed up accept for the driver side UPPER A ARM is still hitting frame its annoying the tar outta me cuz i wasnt missing out on meetin some girls at the beach today an ya it doesnt like slam the frame but on a decent bump you can hear it go BONK! its never a good thing to hear... but i hope ill be fine doing easy driving till tuesday.

nbro3232 05-26-2008 02:37 PM

It will always hit the frame, the fabtech kit comes with a bumpstop for it. I just put some rubber on my frame to limit the metal to metal contact.

Yessick 05-26-2008 05:53 PM

no it shouldnt hit the frame.. thats bad construction if its hitting the frame... i mean if they dont have enough common since to make the upper a arms a little longer to keep the stock spindle off the frame then.. their just stupid...

ooo when i put my fabtech lift spindle on their will it bring the upper a arm higher up away from the frame????

Fx4wannabe01 05-27-2008 05:49 AM

lil question....how can a spindle hit the frame?

I thought you already installed the fabtech stuff?...... / \

Dude, something has to stop the suspension from drooping. Making the arm long will only mess with the geometry. There are no limit straps or bump stops with the doetch kits. With my fabtech kit the spindle hits right where the upper balljoint is. That is why the fabtech kit comes with a upper bumpstop to limit the down travel. In the stock suspension it is probably the shock that limits the down travel.

Yessick 05-27-2008 05:18 PM

well i took it to a local shop were most of my friends work its called truckin up an their tossing all the doetchs an im putting it on ebay and i got all fabtech 5.5 put on their tomorrow morning.. THANK GOD! but since im doing this ima have to park the poor ole thing for a week or two cuz i dont have enough to buy my tires rims an gear installation atm... its a horrid moment in life were i have to actualy park my baby!

alljackedup 05-28-2008 10:16 AM

Yessick 05-29-2008 02:42 PM

Yessick 05-29-2008 05:50 PM

99ranger4x4 05-29-2008 05:52 PM

with an 8ft cheater bar you should probably be able to break the damn bolt lol

Yessick 05-29-2008 08:26 PM

lol well we got it all fixed an aligned but i still gotta put my blocks in the rear but... the point is it aint knocking the frame at all! ill get the picks on here asap

Johnbaum13 05-29-2008 08:44 PM

I had an alignment shop do mine, and they didn't tighten them right. after 3 weeks my tires were leaning. Sucks. I guess thats why ford used offset shims.

Yessick 05-30-2008 07:51 AM

well iot wasnt the alignment shop that realy fixed it... it was jff from trucking ^ hes a realy generous guy he did everything he could to get me back on the road he stayed after hours to finish my truck and ect...

but he fixed it.. and aligned it
