so everyone, including myself, knows that my truck needs to be lowered. it's really the first thing i have on my agenda after i fix my front bumper and grille, but I havent really been sure on what route to take with lowering it. I love the options you get with an airbag set up, that being able to lift it up and drop it to the ground whenever I feel its necessary, but I dont know the first thing about doing that so I fell a little nervous when I go about looking for parts im not even sure what they do.

My first question is if an airbag suspension setup is really worth it. For those of you who have it or know someone who does, how does it ride? is it more of a 'bumpy' set up up or does it ride just as smoothly as stock suspension? Also, what parts are needed for the entire set up?

remember that this truck is a daily driver, so with lowering it all the way to the ground ill have to be extremely careful with how the suspension will affect my tire wear (im riding on 22" Pirellis, not very cheap tires) so any help on which route I should take would be greatly appreciated.

I want it to be low...real low. I don't really feel too comfortable with cutting and fenders because I feel it's too early (plus, that's something I would like to experience doing myself), so if there's some suspension components out there that would drop the body of the truck close to the tires, that would be even better.

airbag suspension makes you feel like just that...youre riding on air. if you want to go low id go with a 3 or 4 link in back. they make kits for them (least for s-10s) but you may have to find a lift of wuts in that kit and find parts that will fit a ranger. i dont care too much for lowered trucks, but hey.

to truly get low youre gonna have to notch your frame and airbags are flippin sweet. trucks that are lowered right do look nice so dont rice yours out and/or make it look queer.

 

i think your truck will look good lowered. if you can afford it air bags are the way to go, they ride super smooth and as you mention, gives you adjustability of the ride height. pretty much youll have the riding height, where your tires will be aligned. and your parked height, which is pretty much as low as you can go, where you can afford some negative camber.

i havent ever done a suspension like that before, but i know there are a few on this site who have air susp and know people that can do it.

as with everything having to do with lowered trucks, take everyones comments with a grain of salt

 

I appreciate the comments guys. It helped...well, a little bit, but at least ya'll are payin' attention to me ! I still may go with a flip-kit in the rear for the six inch drop and probably some four inch drop in the front before I can get the airbags put on.
